Approvals

A second pair of eyes on sensitive actions — cancellations, deletions, and stock write-offs.

Some actions are risky enough that Overden Field can require a second person to sign off before they happen — canceling or deleting a job, canceling a contract, retiring an asset, or writing off stock. If someone doesn't have direct rights to do one of these themselves, their action becomes a request instead.

Requesting an approval

When someone without direct permission tries a restricted action, they're prompted to submit a request with a reason instead. It's added to the approvals queue and the relevant reviewers are notified.

Reviewing requests

  1. 1

    Open the queue

Organisation → Approvals shows every pending request, plus a badge in the header so nothing gets missed.

  2. 2

    Check the details

See who requested it, what it's for, and why.

  3. 3

    Approve or reject

Approving carries out the original action (the cancellation, deletion, etc.); rejecting leaves things as they were. Either way it's recorded in the history.

Example

A technician requesting a job cancellation

A technician can't complete a job because the customer isn't home, and wants to cancel it — but technicians don't have direct job-cancel rights. They submit a cancel request with a note. A dispatcher reviews it from the Approvals queue, confirms it's genuine, and approves it — the job is cancelled and can be rebooked.
